# Credits and cloud jobs

What uses credits, and what runs where.

## Credits

A credit is a tenth of a cent of what Musical uses for you: the language model's work at its published prices, and long jobs (renders, separations, exports) by the second they run on our machines, about 7 credits a minute. Every reply says exactly how many it used; Settings, Billing shows what's left. Each plan gives a number of credits a week, renewed every Monday; see [Pricing](https://musical.sh/pricing).

Playing, editing by hand, recording and reading a song ahead use no credits.

## On your computer

Playing, editing and recording run in your browser. So can splitting a song into parts: the model downloads once and stays.

## In the cloud

- Musical's thinking: the language model that answers you.
- Clean separation: a larger model that splits a song into cleaner parts, on Go, Plus and Ultra.
- Long jobs: renders and video exports. Paid plans go ahead of Free in line for them, Ultra first.

Your audio files aren't sent to the language model. It gets your messages and what the studio measured about the music, like its tempo, chords and sections.
